YOGA
& PRANA: An Exploration
Sunday, June 7, 2-5pm at the Arlington Center
Our
very existence is animated through the accumulation and utilization
of primal energy, called prana. Although the word prana
is mentioned frequently in the yoga world, it is rarely examined
in depth. For instance, there are five categories of physical prana,
characterized by their action and direction, which we'll explore
through asana, discussion and observation. We'll delve into
an exploration of prana's real power and potential for expanding
Creativity and Consciousness.
DISINTEGRATION
TO INTEGRATION
Saturday, June 6, 12:45-2:45pm at Inner
Strength Yoga, Watertown, MA
Have you ever said, "I just can't 'get' that pose..."?
Explore the art of asana 'deconstruction' and 'reconstruction',
enabling you to practice or teach poses with more understanding
(Vidya), finesse (Sthiram), and power (Shakti) and less effort (Sukham).
We'll look at a few favorites from each type of asana and will also
take suggestions from the group, time permitting.
Yoga
for Better Sleep
at All
that Matters, Wakefield RI
Sunday, January 25, 2009, 10am-4pm
Moodiness, impaired decision making, and poor memory, cognition
and spatial orientation (not to mention just feeling tired) are
all symptoms of sleep deprivation. Insomnia and its related afflictions
are at epidemic levels in this country. More than just an annoyance,
sleep deprivation can have serious health effects: fibromyalgia,
chronic colds, allergies, IBS and other auto-immune conditions have
all been attributed to disordered sleep. The good news is yoga can
help reverse the sleeplessness cycle. Learn the physiology and science
of sleep, the rest/stress cycle and how lifestyle choices can aid
or hinder how well we rest. Explore specific yogic techniques and
be guided through a hatha yoga practice that will encourage relaxation
and a deeper slumber. After a break for lunch, investigate specialized
nurturing meditative practices that will unwind the mind and unlock
your "sleep center." A guided Yoga Nidra, in which you'll
experience profound rest, will conclude the day and renew your intention
to support your best Self through sleep.

From
the Subtle to the Infinite
at
The Arlington
Center
October 26, 2008, 2-5pm
We are more than just the sum of our physical parts. Asana is a
great, inspiring workout, but does it really change how we view
and act in the world? The makeup of our psychic and energy bodies
hugely impacts how we manifest in the world—physically, emotionally,
and spiritually. This workshop will artfully weave a new tapestry
for the subtle energies.
Special
Workshop
at Roslindale Yoga
Reaching
for Kaivalya: Yoga Philosophy and Practice
Sunday, October 19, 2-5:30pm
A primary goal of Yoga is to achieve Kaivalya, a state
of liberation from the mundane and union with the divine. There
is a comprehensive world view and philosophy behind all that we
currently call "Yoga." Yoga practice is as much about
transforming the mind as it is about transforming the body. One's
path to freedom is incomplete without the examination of Yoga's
philosophical foundations and techniques for bringing these forth
into your world. In this workshop, we will explore and understand
some of the most important tenets of Yoga through an examination
of its literature and scripture. We will also embody some of these
principles through a balanced hatha yoga practice. For information,
please visit: www.roslindaleyoga.com.

practices are premised on the cultivation of our inner fire (Agni)
and its proper utilization. Learn how to nurture these profound

will all be explored as ways to brighten and sustain our Agni.
